Exquisite Tonewoods and Repurposed Woods

Picture

Monkey Pod - Repurposed

For 30 years, a sable mahogany quality hardwood slab from Hawaii was recovered from a former luthier shop waiting to find its "voice." With character not to be found in more recent cut woods, this repurposed wood is mellow and deep.  We have a limited supply for ukuleles.

Unique colors and tone

Our standard spruce tops may be substituted with redwood's rich color and tone on demand and where  the contrast adds unique effect.  West African ebony is typical for our bridge stock.

Neck form follows function.

The beauty of figured hardwood laminates on the neck actually provides strength and stability along with beauty. Schaller tuning machines with pearl buttons complement the finishing highlights on the fretboard.

Select Hardwoods

Singing Strings Luthier brings together traditional rosewood and spruce, but also delights in creating exquisite non-traditional guitars like this redwood and sable mahogany  beauty.  Extra care is taken to customize each instrument in trim detail and finish.
