Local Luthier Showcases Handcrafted Instruments at Santa Barbara Acoustic Instrument Celebration (SBAIC)
September, 2017, Huntingdon Valley, PA:  Paul Lange, Luthier exhibited handcrafted parlor guitars and ukuleles at the SBAIC at the Fess Parker Resort in Santa Barbara, California.  A Luthier is a maker of fine stringed instruments.  His instruments featured select exotic hardwoods, highly figured tonewoods for classical and modern guitarists. Music played on his instruments was featured in a concert by Kinloch Nelson, finger board artist and teacher, and enjoyed by many other fine guitarists during the three-day exhibit.  A line-up of the instruments shown can be accessed at SBAIC Exclusive Preview on this website: www SingingStringsLuthier.com  Those wishing to see and play the hand crafted instruments should contact Paul Lange at SingingStringsLuthier@comcast.net.
Luthier "Pays it Forward" in Free Ukulele Hootenanny at the Pennypack Environmental Resource Trust
March, 2017, Huntingdon Valley, PA:  Paul Lange, Principal of Singing Strings Luthier Guitars and Ukuleles completed a 6-week series of Ukulele sessions, “Learn, Play, Sing and Have Fun! open to members of the Trust and all local residents. Six sessions were held between January and March this year, and hosted by Singing Strings Luthier Guitars and Ukuleles, the sessions were free and open to the public, many of who dusted off their old instruments and brought them in to, “Learn, Play, Sing and Have Fun!”   Some attendees had rarely or never played before, and were loaned ukuleles, handcrafted by Paul Lange.  “Our goal for these free sessions was to revive interest in the music just for fun.  Besides the music, I hoped to bring a better understanding of the skill and art involved in making stringed instruments,” continued Lange.  The musicians who brought in their ukes got tips on reconditioning, re-stringing them and reviving their interest from many free ukulele resources and songbooks available in online resources.
Up to 20 players attended the various sessions, including retirees, working folks, parents, grandparents who brought along in their interested children and grandchildren.  The free sessions may continue from time to time throughout the year.  Along with the sponsors, a few of the Hootenanny Ukulelians will share their newfound skills in short acoustic music sets at the Trust’s first annual arts festival in May.

Luthier to Donate One-of-A-Kind Ukulele in Non-Profit Silent Auction.   December 2016, Upper Moreland, PA.  Singing Strings Luthier Paul Lange announced he will donate for silent bid auction a hand crafted ukulele, all proceeds to benefit the Pennypack Environmental Restoration Trust.  This ukulele has a special significance for members of the nature conservancy, having been reclaimed from a downed tree following severe winds of Hurricane Sandy in 2012.  Lange reclaimed the tree, creating a one-of-a-kind, beautifully toned ukulele as a beautiful work of art intended to bring beauty as well as music to a supporter of the Trust. A photo slideshow of Paul harvesting the tree and the many steps from rough log to the finely crafted finished instrument is posted on SingingStringsLuthier.com website where potential bidders can see and appreciate the true beauty Paul brought to “Penny,” the finely-crafted finished instrument. “Penny” will be auctioned to the high bidder this summer, in a silent auction to benefit the Trust, with bids starting at $1,000.   The auction will take place in August and concluded after Labor Day  All proceeds are to be donated to the Trust.      (The photo show is available at http://www.singingstringsluthier.com/reclaiming-acoustic-resources.: htmlwww.singingstringsluthier.com/reclaiming-acoustic-resources.html  .
